Automatic External Defibrillator

Big Water Fire and Rescue has been working with the Kane County Commission and the Kane County Board of Tourism and has secured a gift of a $1,700 Automatic External Defibrillator that will be put in RESCUE 32, which is now stationed at Church Wells. Commissioner Dirk Clayson was instrumental in securing this device and without his commitment it would have never happened.

Kane County will present the device to Big Water Fire and Rescue at a commission meeting in the near future.

Dave Dobbins Appointed Assistant Chief

David Dobbins was appointed Assistant Fire Chief for Big Water Fire and Rescue. Dave is a Certified Fire Fighter and a Advanced Life Support Medic. Dave formely served as the Departments Training Officer.

Daves committment and enthusiasm for the the department was the determining factor in promoting him to Assistant Chief.

Big Water Fire Certifications!

Release from the Big Water Fire Department:

With the recent certification of 6 members at Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Technician Advanced, Big Water Fire and Rescue now maintains 8 Advanced EMT’s.

Soon three more Big Water Fire and Rescue Personnel will be certified as Basic EMT’s. Big Water Fire will have a total of thirteen EMT’s; 8 Advanced and 5 Basic to serve Big Water and the surrounding communities.

Emergency Medical Packets

In the next few weeks Big Water Fire and Rescue personnel will be going door to door to distribute emergency medical information packets. These packets should the residents choose to use them will be placed on the occupants refrigerator.

Our Fireman and Medics will look for these packets as we enter your home if you call us in an emergency. If they are filled out and complete it will speed your care, help us to identify allergies as well as medication contraindications.

Big Day For The Fire Department

Today was a big day for the Big Water Fire Department as it saw 4 of the volunteer fire fighters receive Utah State Fireman Certification!

All of the above passed Firefighter 1, Firefighter2, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations.

As well as the above classes Mike Daniel also now qualifies as a Firefighter Instructor.
